Happy New Year

“I suppose when we wake on January 1 the world will look the same. But there is a reminder of the Resurrection at the start of each new year, each new decade. That's why I also like sunrises, Mondays, and new seasons. God seems to be saying, "With me you can always start afresh." Ada Lum

Beautiful Things Happen When A Woman Trusts God

I received a complimentary copy of When A Woman Trusts God by Sheila Walsh to review from Thomas Nelson Publishers several years ago.  Finally got around to reading it this week.
Walsh states, “The greatest challenge to trust is when he allows us – or even more so, those we love – to suffer.”  In this book Walsh tells her personal experience with depression and how she learned to let go and trust God.  In this book Walsh provides hope through the Biblical stories of David, Tabitha, Paul Moses, Gideon, Joseph, and Abraham.
As a counselor I am always looking for good books to recommend to my clients.  This book will go to the top of my list.  It is full of inspirational quotes and scripture verses that remind us that God can be trusted, even when we don’t understand the whys of our situation.
I often tell my clients that God is more interested in our progress than our perfection.  Walsh states, “If the whole point of the journey is to learn to become more like Jesus, which is to trust God 100 percent, then the places we have been or where we are headed seem to fade into insignificance.”
If you are a woman who has difficulty trusting God this would be a great book to use as a Bible Study. The discussion questions in the back of the book are helpful in working through each chapter, and would be great for use in a women’s group.

Cahoots

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots.
Apparently, you can't go alone.
You have to be in Cahoots with someone.

I've also never been in Cognito.
I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however, been in Sane.
They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there.
I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense!
It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart!
At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in.
It's an age thing.
